WHO WE ARE
I am Shelly with my husband CJ Rivera and our 4 fur babies this is Coffee Anxiety & Love. A travel journal on our life on the road, while we work and especially when we play. We have recently embarked on an adventure we have been planning for about 3 to 4 years now. We started this idea separately, not knowing we had similar visions. And now we are full time RV’ers in an older model RV but things are looking up and we may be making some improvements soon.
I would say I started on a minimalist journey about 4 years ago, from a less than 500 sq ft apartment. I did enjoy being in that home for about 3 years. I had a lot of fun and loved the opportunity to learn how to downsize my life from a mom of 2, to a single mom living alone. I had too much stuff, it was great stuff, but it was way too much. So I started on my journey to minimalism and did a great job! Shockingly, it took me over a year to get to a reasonable amount of clothes. Which is where I started opening my eyes as to how much Stuff I had that I was just not using or just didn’t need. Being horrible at the impulse buying, is how I got there. I started 3 months at a time cutting down the clutter. I can’t lie, I had a lot of fun seeing how much I did not need. Which led me to see I didn’t need a lot and I really was looking for something else in life, something more.
And now here we are, Shelly, CJ and our 4 fur babies; Vixen, Stuart, Nyxie and Xochitl. Three very different Chihuahuas and an 8 month old German Shepard, who has not figured out even though she is a baby, she is huge. Actually Xochitl is already taller than my husband and me. Yes, I’ve been knocked down several times…LOL.
In the mist of all this, in trying to stay healthy and start a new path, I met my husband CJ at a small gym we were attending. As we started getting to know each other, we started to learn we had similar visions of not working ourselves to death and living as much off the land and free as possible. He has been the motivational push I have needed. I am extremely happy we ended up crossing paths. It’s been nothing but fun, yes there have been downs, but we have learned how to appreciate, understand, and love each other.
So, welcome all to our fun RV adventures and find out how we deal with the ups, downs, our spiritual path, our fitness journey and so much fun with the babies.
WHO AM I AND WHY AM I HERE…
Hey all, I am Shelly Rivera and I am happy to meet you. I am a mother of 2 and grandmother of 6. My life journey has been rough. Growing up was hard and being a parent was harder. Looking back, I wish I would have not been in survival mode with my kids and I could have spent more time with them, helping them grow and just have fun. But I’m sure that is a story a lot of us can relate to. First marriage was 17 years. This time around, I’ve been married for just over a year now to CJ, and we have been together for 6 in total. My work background started as an executive assistant, I went to college and move over to the accounting world. EA for about 23 years and finished out my 9 to 5 work life 6 years as an accounts receivable manager. I loved what I was doing, but was not happy with the environment I was in. For the last 10 years of me working, I was already setting things in motion to start a new career or new way of working/living. I was really looking for something else around the time I turned 37 but I just really wasn’t sure what it was. In that time, I started working out and then started studying to become a personal trainer, which I am currently. I still was not happy, completely.
About the time I turned 40, I started severely self-medicating…I was fortunate and grateful nothing bad happened through this harsh period in my life. I hurt people and I was sometimes just down right ugly. When I started going to a private gym about 6 or 7 years ago, I ran into a man who I was not looking for at all. He was way too young and just nothing I would have noticed at all (I love you Babe! LOL). We started talking and 6 years later we are married. I’m still not sure what I was looking for but I have discovered a lot about myself, who I am and at least somewhat of a direction I want to go.
I’m now 50 years old! And love it!! I really thought I would have a hard time dealing with that number but surprisingly no. I recently left a company I was working for as a trainer, I truly enjoyed my year with them and loved my crew. I have come to learn more about self healing, self-care and mindset. I am focusing on opening up my 7 chakras and working with healing crystals. Discovering Tarot and Oracle cards and do readings so far, just my husband and myself. I’d like to get back on a consistent schedule of working out, eating right and being more mindful of my body. Walk with me on my journey of healing, happiness and love as we live full time in an RV with my little family. I wish you a happy, healthy, prosperous and abundant day.
